Back with Family (Vuda Marina, Fiji)

July 4, 2015

It’s been too long away from our cruising family. We’ve been mostly on our own since we went in a different direction last season. We were lucky enough to run into Alaeris and Lisa Kay during our last month in Australia, and we’ve made lots of new cruising friends in our recent travels, but we haven’t seen much of many others we’d been around during the last three years of cruising.

We’re back…

I didn’t realize how much I’d missed this until I had it again.

Our divergence from the more-traveled route made for difficult times. We’ve been on the go since we left New Zealand in May of last year. For the most part, we didn’t have the advice and company of our cruising friends who went before us and were often in the same anchorage for a few days at a time, here and there, sharing beer, wine, information and friendship. We were moving and exploring constantly. Now that we’re resting very comfortably in Fiji, I’m feeling a big, emotional sigh of relief and am really enjoying the recuperation process here. Waves of exhaustion are washing over me and away as we while-away the days with nothing much to do and the evenings drinking beer with friends. Soon, I’ll be recharged and ready to go. That’s good because within sight of the little restaurant here, there are dozens of islands to explore. -Rich
