Legacy is for Sale… $8,978,000 USD

April 29, 2014

Yep, she’s for sale and that’s the asking price.  Non-negotiable!  You see, we just installed a new shower and faucet in the head and when we get these little quality-of-life improvements done, that’s what I feel like she’s worth.  Oh yea, the new cove stripe also helped drive the price up a bit too.

new-showerIf that price tag is, as the Kiwis say, a little too dear for you, check with us after a bad passage.  Then the asking price is usually around $6.38.

Kidding aside, that garden hose nozzle makes an incredible shower fixture.  It has about 8 settings and the “mist” setting produces a nice hard spray while using very little water. We’ve been using one for a while but it’s just been kludged on to the sink faucet.  Now it’s permanent – we have both a shower and a sink faucet.  It’s the little changes on the boat that seem to make a huge difference in the quality of our lives afloat. -Rich

OMG! Fiji Cruising Info Finally Done!

Wfiji-iconic-image-200x200e’ve finally finished it – the Fiji cruising information we’ve promised several (OK, more than several) people some time ago (OK, a long time ago)!  I hope you’ll find it worth the wait.  I went without wifely companionship for a long time while she worked on this manifesto.  -Rich

You can find it under Cruising Info at the top of the page, or here…

Too Much Time on Our Hands

April 22, 2014 (Easter in the U.S.)

Warning: this post for mature audiences only!

“What do you do out there all day?”

Try this: Search Google for “movies like Mega Shark Vs. Crocosaurus” (without the quotes) and come back to us when you’ve watched them all.

(I have no idea what this has to do with cruising but it’s just too good not to pass along.)

Update:

First, we watched Dinocroc versus Supergator.  Wow!  Do you agree that sometimes a movie can be so bad, it’s good?  (Note: There was wine involved in our most enjoyable viewing.)

Then for Easter, we watched Night of the Lepus (an attack of giant rabbits – seemed appropriate for Easter!).

We are in the process of painting the cove stripe on the side of the boat.  I’m so glad we saw this movie because now we know the name of the paint color we used – “Killer Rabbit Red.” It came out brighter than expected – kind of like the red below…

Update: April 24, 2014… The cove stripe is finished – see for yourselves! (The cove stripe is the red stripe on the sides of the boat just below deck level.)

“Why did you paint the cove stripe?” For some reason, the red gelcoat was evaporating from this area, leaving bare fiberglass. We needed to paint it to protect the fiberglass. I’ve never heard of anything like this happening. I guess the tropical sun, combined with New Zealand’s ozone hole, was just too much for it. I’m just glad the white gelcoat is still looking good.

What do you know? This post did turn out to be about cruising!

We Miss Our Pets

April 5, 2014

Our new friend at the Museum of Technology in Gisborne.
Our new friend at the Museum of Technology in Gisborne.

We miss our cats, and pets in general. That’s one of the sacrifices we made to cruise. Sure, people cruise with pets, but it’s not for us. We just take advantage of every animal encounter we can – like this one at the museum of technology in Gisborne. This wonderful cat came running when he saw us. I guess he knows who the cat people are! -Rich

Pervious post about the museum.
